The Battle Creek Central Bearcats had their chances to win for Homecoming, but costly turnovers did them in against the Mattawan Wildcats.

A week after the Bearcats turned the ball over seven times on fumbles, they would lose the ball five more times this week in a 21-18 loss at C.W. Post Field. With the loss, the Bearcats fall into a three-way tie for the Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference's East Division lead with Mattawan and the cross-town Lakeview Spartans.

Central received touchdown runs from DJ Watson, Cyntell Williams and Daireo Brown, but were unable to capitalize on the three point-after attempts.

The Bearcats travel to Portage next week to take on the Huskies of Portage Northern.
