It was a battle on the ground for both the Pennfield Panthers and the Marshall Redhawks in their Week 4 match-up. It would be two key passes for the Panthers would help in two scoring drives in a 27-13 victory. The win was Pennfield's first on the season, and for head coach Mike McGuire. DeWan Smith scored twice for the Panthers, part of a 18-carry, 143-yard night. His nine-yard score was set up by a 30-yard reception by running back Ryan Ferguson, putting the Green and Gold at Marshall's 20. Smith with also score from 48 yards out in the 3rd quarter. The other was a 16-yard diving reception from Ferguson. He would score later on a one-yard scamper to put away the Redhawks. Ferguson was run for 68 yards on 17 carries. Quarterback Branden Rugg put the Panthers on the board with a one-yard sneak in the only score of the first half.

The Redhawks were not short on excitement, as they would score in the third with junior running back Forrest Jackson bursting for 70 yards untouched. He ran 21 times for 186 yards on the night. Tyler Horn would score the other touchdown to keep Marshall close.

In other action, Battle Creek Central returns to the win column in the "Oldest Rivalry West of the Alleghenies", Lakewiew notches their second straight win, and an overtime thriller in Charlotte for Harper Creek. Finally, St. Philip continues to roll with a Homecoming victory over Burr Oak...
