While the stats were even on paper, the scoreboard showed a different sign as the Coldwater Cardinals dominated the time of possession and the Harper Creek Beavers in a 35-13 victory. The traveling Beavers fell to the Cardinals for the first time in 22 years and 4-3 on the season. For Coldwater, they return to the playoffs for the second straight year after making their first appearance in school history in the playoff era.

Junior quarterback Luke Beckhusen led the Cardinals' ground game with 127 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns. The three starting running backs in Coldwater's Wing-T, Colton Covert, Sam DeMeester and Spencer Burns, each scored a touchdown on the ground, as the Cards ran for 273 yards.

Senior Jake Bishop scored on a 1-yard scamper following his 64-yard dash for the Beavers. His 97-yard, eight-carry night led the Harper offense in a losing effort. Zach Wilson would score on a 45-yard play late in the fourth quarter, part of his 83-yard night.

The Beavers now have to win their final two games to lock up a spot in the MHSAA playoffs. They host the Marshall Redhawks next week to conclude their Interstate 8 Conference schedule.
