All the goals and aspirations for the area schools begin when two-a-days kick off the football season. After practices in intense heat and games with very pleasant conditions in 2017, 11 area schools have made their way to the Michigan High School Athletic Association playoffs.

Two of Battle Creek's teams are in action this weekend with the Harper Creek Beavers being the only team at home. Tonight's Game of the Night will feature the Beavers hosting the Coldwater Cardinals in a rematch of Week 7 between the two Interstate 8 rivals. For the second straight season, the two teams square off in the District Semifinals in Division 3.

The other City team, the St. Philip Fighting Tigers, are the only team in action on Saturday, as they travel to Flint International Academy to take on the Flames in a Division 2 Regional Semifinal in 8-Man.

Out of the 11 area squads still in action, only four are at home including Harper Creek. Olivet hosts Lansing Catholic in Division 5, Climax-Scotts hosts Lansing Catholic and Bellevue will host their first-ever 8-Man playoff game battling Webberville.
