As we make our way into the final two weeks of the High School Football regular season, four conference and division champions in the area have been crowned, while one divisional race could conclude with three co-champions.

Among the city teams, the Battle Creek Central Bearcats and Lakeview Spartans are in a dead heat with the Mattawan Wildcats for the Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference's East Division title. The conference will hold non-divisional games this week before the Week 9 finales, where three teams will each play separate opponents. Central travels to Loy Norrix, while Lakeview will host Gull Lake.

In the Interstate 8, the conference's final games take place this week with Coldwater needing a win to wrap up the top spot. The Cardinals finished as the runner-up last season to Jackson Lumen Christi, who sit in third. The Marshall Redhawks are still in the hunt, as they host the Harper Creek Beavers Friday night. The Pennfield Panthers conclude their I-8 schedule at home on Friday, battling Lumen Christi.

After a victory at home over Waldron, the St. Philip Tigers won the Southern Michigan 8-Man Conference crown for the third straight year. They wrap up their regular season with former conference foe Portland St. Patrick and defending 8-Man State champion Lawrence, both games on the road.

Also in Week 7, Homer and Climax-Scotts picked up conference titles in the Big 8 and South Central Athletic Association, respectively. The Homer Trojans won their second conference title in the last three seasons and battle Union City this week. Their final week will have them take on either Jackson Vandercook Lake or Manchester in the annual Big 8-Cascades Conference crossover.

The Panthers of Climax-Scotts continue to roll in the SCAA with their seventh consecutive title. They finish their season on the road with a trip to Spring Lake Friday and to New Buffalo in Week 9.
