Major restructuring is coming to Battle Creek’s family homeless shelter.

In a release dated Friday, the Haven of Rest Ministries says that Executive Director Elaine Hunsicker is retiring from her position. Hunsicker has been Executive Director for 12 years, and the Haven says that her “passion, compassion, and commitment to serving the homeless” has been instrumental to developing programs that help those in need in the community.

With her retiring, the Haven’s current Fund Development Director Daniel Jones has now been appointed as Executive Director. Several other members of the Haven’s leadership team will also be taking on further responsibilities to help accomplish goals like the efficient delivery of programs, and a deepening of “community collaborations”.

The Haven of Rest and Inasmuch House is Calhoun County's only homeless shelter for families, and has been in operation since 1952.
