A 21-year-old would-be hunter from Homer was hospitalized Sunday morning, after he accidentally shot himself.

According to Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies, the incident took place just after 10 AM in the 22,000 block of West Drive South, in Clarendon Township.

The man was out hunting and was attempting to remove his jacket when he dropped his 12 gauge shotgun. The gun went off and he was struck in the upper torso area.

He was flown to Bronson Kalamazoo Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.
