This, according to noted cat expert, Art "The Chief" Frith, who recommends you watch the following video.  Mr. Frith, by the way, states that he does not engage in the practice of licking his cats.

Now I know the answer to the ages old question of why cats constantly lick themselves.  It's because they don't want YOU to do it.
