A group of young professionals have joined forces to form Ignite BC and four of them,  Adam Kingston, Cameron Cummins, Caitlynn Newman,  and Kayla Thompson were guests on the 95.3 WBCK Morning Show with Tim Collins.

According to Ignite BC’s web page, their mission is to build a thriving community base in Battle Creek through engaging social gatherings, enriching professional events, and community impact activities.  Engaging and enriching activities are made possible by our committee members who are charged with planning and communicating things they would like to see and do in our community.

The group has formed some committees to make things happen.

Marketing & Communication
This committee consists of our silent leaders who work during the wee hours of the night to make sure our brand and marketing materials are top notch! You can thank this bunch for always promoting our group in a fresh and fun new light.

Fundraising & Friendraising
Ignite BC wouldn’t be possible without these guys and gals! This committee is responsible for raising funds AND friends which make our events possible. Nobody likes an empty bank account or an unattended event.

Social & Service
These two go together like wine & cheese, peanut butter & jelly, milk & cookies. A group without a purpose is no fun, so we have decided to join forces to make sure our social gatherings are always enriching and our service events are always entertaining.

Ignite BC is still in its beginning stages, but the goal is to have about four events a year, with the potential for more as it continues to grow.  The organization’s first official event is already on the schedule: a Broomball Tournament at The Rink. They're welcoming players and hecklers alike to participate, this Saturday.

What is Broomball?
The activity is similar to hockey and soccer, the object of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team. A player uses a stick (a shaft with a molded broom-shaped head) to maneuver a six-inch diameter ball up and down the ice. Instead of skates, players wear shoes. Broomball is a really fun activity any group to enjoy.
