Jackson County Crash Leaves One Man Dead

A routine traffic stop turned deadly in Jackson County Monday afternoon.

A Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy was conducting the stop on Francis St. in Summit Township around 5pm Monday, but when the deputy approached the driver the vehicle fled at high speed southward.

Shortly after driving off, the SUV hit a median and lost control, before striking a tree at high speed.  The car burst into flames in the impact, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
