Kalamazoo County Board Approves Consolidated Dispatch Surcharge

The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners gave their approval yesterday to a plan to consolidate emergency dispatch operations within the County.  The new consolidated dispatch center will handle 9-1-1 services for the County, the City of Kalamazoo, City of Portage, Kalamazoo Township and Western Michigan University.  The new dispatch center will initially be funded by a 42 cent per month surcharge on phone bills.
