A Kalamazoo County organization has received a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to help fight blight.

In a release, The Kalamazoo County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority announced that $400,000 in funding has been awarded to the county.  The KCBRA works with cities, the State of Michigan, and private developers to redevelop blighted, contaminated or obsolete properties to turn them towards functional use.

The last grant the EPA awarded the KCBRA was in 2006.

The KCBRA was one of four Michigan communities to receive the grants.
