Kalamazoo FC started out the month of July with a trip up US-131 Sunday to take on Grand Rapids FC in the first of two meetings this week.

The Teals come away with a 1-0 victory over the Boys in Blue, eliminating Grand Rapids from playoff contention in the National Premier Soccer League's Great Lakes Division. It also ended a two-match winning streak for GRFC. With four games remaining, KzFC is also out of contention and looking to play spoiler in the final two weeks of the season.

The lone goal of the match came from the Teals best striker, as Ade Adeniyi would score with an assist from Kalamazoo native Jay McIntosh in the 44th minute.

The second half was very physical, as three KzFC players received yellow cards in a span of 19 minutes. The match welded five yellows on the day.

The Upcoming Week
Kalamazoo FC returns home for two games this weekend beginning Friday night at Mayors Riverfront Park, where they host the rematch with Grand Rapids FC. Kickoff is at 7pm and tickets are available for the contest. The contest will start a busy week for GRFC, who will play three matches in five days. It includes a home contest Sunday with FC Indiana and a road trip to Wisconsin to take on the Milwaukee Torrent.

On Sunday, KzFC will square off with Michigan Stars FC with a 5pm kickoff. The teams battled to a 1-1 draw in Berkley on June 16th. It was one of five draws for the Stars this season. The Stars will play the second game of their weekend in Kalamazoo after hosting Lansing United Friday. Tickets are available for this contest as well.
