Kalamazoo Raid Turns Up Weapons, Drugs and Cash
The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team has seized a large amount of weapons, cash and drugs after a raid.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that KVET officers, along with Kalamazoo Metro SWAT, executed a search warrant in the 700 block of Hawley St. Thursday. Inside, officers found two loaded handguns and two loaded shotguns, crack and powder cocaine, and a large amount of cash.
One of the shotguns was discovered to have been stolen out of Battle Creek last year.
Three people were inside, and two were arrested. A 35-year-old Kalamazoo man is facing charges of Felony Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felony in Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine, and Maintaining a Drug House.
The raid was conducted after several citizen complaints of drug activity and violence in the area. The KVET would like to encourage citizens with information regarding illegal drugs and firearms to contact police or Silent Observer immediately.
