Young basketball players will have a chance to learn from one of the best this spring.  KCC Men's Basketball Coach Ben Reed, a standout player with Battle Creek Central and Western Michigan University, will lead  a series of Fundamental Skills & Drills Basketball Camps for youth on Sundays in April and May.

Camps will be  held at the Miller Gym on KCC's campus, 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. The camps will run in two sessions, with separate camps for first through fifth graders and sixth through ninth graders. Sessions include:

SESSION 1 ($35)

April 3, 10 and 17

  • Grades 1-5: 2-4 p.m.
  • Grades 6-9: 5-7 p.m.

SESSION 2 ($45)

May 1, 8, 15 and 22

  • Grades 1-5: 2-4 p.m.
  • Grades 6-9: 5-7 p.m.

Camp activities will focus on the fundamentals of basketball and include instruction in drills including shooting, dribbling and passing in addition to competitive games and contests.

REGISTRATION

Registration forms for KCC's Fundamental Skills & Drills Basketball Camp are available online at www.kellogg.edu/youth. Registration is open until the day of each session and can be completed:

  • By mail by completing a camp registration form and waiver of liability and mailing the forms with payment to Lifelong Learning, 450 North Ave., Battle Creek, MI. 49017.
  • By phone by calling KCC's Lifelong Learning Department at 269-965-4134 and registering with a credit or debit card.
  • By fax by sending the completed forms to 269-565-2129.
  • In person at the Lifelong Learning office in room 102 of the Ohm Information Technology Center on KCC's North Avenue campus in Battle Creek.

Participants can register for sessions individually or can register for both at a discounted rate of $75. Camp fees include a camp T-shirt for each participant.
