John Bryant, the CEO of Kellogg Company, announced on Thursday that he would be stepping down.

The Battle Creek based food company, in a press release, said that Bryant would be replaced as Chief Executive Officer by Steven Cahillane effective October 2. Cahillane, formerly the President and CEO of Nature's Bounty, will also join the Board of Directors, and take over for Bryant as Executive Chairman of the Board starting on March 15, 2018.

In the release, Bryant says:

It has been my pleasure to serve as the CEO of Kellogg Company over the past seven years. I am even more confident in the future of our company today than at any other time in my 20 years with Kellogg. I've decided that the time is right to hand over the reins to a new leader who can continue the transformation of this great company.

Callihane also has served as President of Coca-Cola Americas, and as CCO of AB InBev.
