Authorities in Kalamazoo County raided an Oshtemo Township home yesterday, suspecting it was home to a breeding operation for fighting dogs.

Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant around 9am Wednesday to a home in the 7600 block of West KL Avenue, the home of Kelvin E Thomas.  Deputies found seven pitbulls and three dobermans, as well as dog fighting paraphernalia, including weights, chains and supplements for the animals.

The dogs were seized, and given over to Animal Services.

Thomas had previously pleaded guilty to dog fighting charges in 2012, being sentenced to two years probation and 160 hours community service.  No arrests have been made yet, but charges are being sought.
