Lighting Up The Night

Last Saturday, my son Austin, my girlfriend Sam and I made our way downtown to the 3rd Annual "Light Up the Night" event. It was all kicked off by roughly 400 runners in the Tinsel Toes 5K, sponsored by Girls on the Run. We were in the process of having dinner at a local establishment and spotted a few runners make their way for so post-run grub. Austin, the smartest six-year-old I know, had the quote of night, "They all get to eat, because they won!". Now I want to run next year!

We made out way downtown and stayed at the warming house awaiting a ride on a draft horse-drawn carriage. Once we got on, the brisk late fall breeze kicked in and rosed up the cheeks.

We stopped in Wave Park, where they were just concluding the karaoke contest and announcing winners of their Family Scavanger Hunt. We were able to stay warm with a little bonfire.

It was a great event downtown that I never had a chance to experience, but I will definitely do it again next year! I hope you do the same!
