An arrest was made in Kalamazoo Wednesday afternoon after a home invasion and alleged assault.

In a release, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that officers responded to the 1200 block of California Ave, and spoke to the victim.  The victim told police that a male subject entered the apartment through an unlocked door and assaulted the victim.

The victim said that he knew the man who broke in.

The suspect was gone when police arrived, so authorities tracked down a suspect vehicle to the 1000 block of Miller Rd, and surrounded the residence. Officers took the 23-year-old male suspect into custody on charges of 1st Degree Home Invasion and Malicious Destruction of Property; drug charges are also expected, as illegal substances were found at the home on Miller Rd.
