Man Dies From Self-Inflicted Wound

A 24-year-old man has died after he accidentally shot himself at a residence in Battle Creek.

The initial call came from the first block of West Fountain Street around 4 am Thursday morning.

Authorities learned the victim was visiting with friends, handling a handgun, when the gun went off, wounding him in the head. The Battle Creek Police stated that Caprice Gordon was taken to Bronson-Battle Creek, in a private vehicle, and then transferred to Bronson-Kalamazoo, where he died.

Authorities believe that the shooting was accidental, but the case remains under investigation.
