Hundreds of citizens turned out into the streets Thursday afternoon, for a rally in Kalamazoo.

The group of around 300 people gathered at a park in Kalamazoo for a self-described peace and unity march through city streets while police controlled traffic.  The march was spurred on by the recent police shootings of black men by police in Louisiana and Minnesota.

Several community leaders attended the rally and spoke, including state representative Jon Hoadley and Kalamazoo Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley.  City and County lawmakers were in attendance as well for the peaceful gathering.
