A large scale medical marijuana company is planning to make Marshall their new headquarters.

Michigan Pure Med has a plan to build a growing and processing center, that will also serve as the HQ for their Michigan operations. The Battle Creek Enquirer says that the facility would be located on Old US 27 South, inside the Brooks Industrial Park, and would take up 1.2 million square feet. The Marshall City Planning Commission approved this plan at their meeting last week.

Once built in five years, Michigan Pure Med would employ 400 people in the Marshall area.

This company isn't the first to jump on the Marshall pot bandwagon; after the city was the first in Calhoun County to allow medical marijuana businesses, they've approved three other growers and processors. Those are Green Eden, to be located on Division Dr, Cresco Labs on Oliver Dr, and Delta One on Industrial Rd. All of these businesses are in the area near the Brooks Industrial Park.

The company is also planning several retail locations throughout southern Michigan, including Emmett Township and Kalamazoo. Others will be located in Grand Rapids, Flint, Lansing, Detroit, Hazel Park and Warren.
