The Marshall Board of Education voted yes on moving forward with annexing the Albion Public School System, and now only a few more steps remain to finalize.

The Marshall Board voted unanimously on Monday to annex the Albion Public Schools, meaning that, if finalized, Albion schools would become absorbed by the Marshall School System.

Albion high school students already study in Marshall schools, and Albion students grades 6-8 will be joining them later this month.

Declining enrollment and a climbing deficit are the main reasons the Albion Board initiated the annexation process.  To finalize annexation, the proposal has to be approved by the State Superintendent and Governor Snyder, before heading to Albion voters for final approval.
