The City of Marshall could be home to a new 1,000 megawatt power plant in the future.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that the $400 million Marshall Energy Center at Brooks Industrial Park in Calhoun County was discussed by the City Council Monday, with some councilors asking about jobs and environmental impact. The firm working on the project said the construction could create hundreds of jobs, and that any water discharge from the natural-gas plant would be clean before it enters Talmadge Creek.

Construction for this energy plant could start sometime in 2019.
