Rep. Dave Maturen (R-Brady Township) offered his February legislative update this week on WBCK, telling The Richard Piet Show lead pipes in Flint should not necessarily be completely replaced at the expense of the State of Michigan.

"I don't think that's going to happen," Maturen said. "Infrastructure, generally, is a local government priority."

Maturen believes the city should bear some responsibility after perhaps having not maintained the city system before an emergency manager assumed control in the city.

About the Kalamazoo shootings this past weekend, the 63rd District representative said he isn't sure there's a quick remedy at the hands of lawmakers.

"I think we need to take time and look at the facts around it," Maturen said. "I don't know that there's a legislative cure."
