A man is in critical condition and his wife is in jail after an Emmett Township stabbing that appears to have stemmed from a domestic incident.

The Emmett Township Department of Public Safety says Thursday morning that their officers were called to the 100 block of La Grange Ave. after they received word that a man had been stabbed. They did find the 44-year-old victim with a stab wound to his back; he told officers that he had been stabbed by his wife during an argument.

The victim was taken to Bronson Battle Creek in critical condition, and was later transferred to Bronson Kalamazoo; his condition is still described as critical, but stable, as of 9am Thursday.

The Department says that after investigation, they arrested a 35-year-old Battle Creek woman in connection to the stabbing and placed her in the Calhoun County Jail. She's currently awaiting arraignment on charges including Assault with Intent to Murder.

Names will be released pending arraignment.
