Law enforcement officials in Detroit are benefiting from medical marijuana. Law enforcement officials tell The Detroit News that grants from medical marijuana patient fees have helped them crack down on criminals operating outside the law. The Associated Press reports that local sheriffs have spent over $600,000 in Michigan grant funding. Departments have used the money for overtime pay, raid gear, dispensary stakeouts and vehicles used to haul contraband pot.
