Meijer has recently announced a brand new way to shop that will save everyone time and I'm all about it. The Meijer in Grand Rapids announced their "Shop & Scan" service which allows customers to scan items with their phone and bag groceries as they shop, then ultimately scan their phone in the self-checkout area to finish shopping.

FOX 17 reports that Meijer’s Chief Information Officer Terry Ledbetter elaborated in a release on the program and the companies ability to reach a larger shopping audience:

This technology joins our curbside pickup and home delivery programs to provide yet another option for Meijer customers to personalize their shopping experience.

The Shop & Scan program which has been tested on a few stores already is expected to become available for more stores within the next few weeks. Kalamazoo and Battle Creek will no doubt offer this feature as Meijer said Monday in a release that Shop & Scan will be available in all of its stores by the end of the summer.  The app will be available for Apple and Android devices and will also be compatible with Meijer’s mPerks program.
