Hmmm…..why would a woman go to a men’s barbershop and ask for her hair to be cut?

Interesting question right?

I smell either a troublemaker or a women looking to find a lawsuit to make some cash.

As being reported in a CBS Pittsburgh news site a woman walked into an upscale gentleman’s barbershop and asked for a haircut.  The owner informed her we only cut men’s hair, we do not have the equipment to cut women’s hair.  She left that barbershop and filed an action with the state’s Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs.

The men’s barbershop in question had what is described as a “rugged décor to the macho atmosphere”.  It is a place one client was quoted in the article as saying “[I] come here, talk sports, guy talk. A great place to get away after a hard day’s work, get a haircut and have a beer.”

Apparently the men’s barbershop offers complimentary cocktails and cold beer.  Great idea, why didn’t I think of that.

The state’s Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs found that the men’s barbershop was in the wrong and fined them $750.00 for gender discrimination.

Again why would a women go into a men’s barbershop and ask for a haircut?

Why can’t men have a place to go and hang out with other men to shoot the breeze, probably about sports and women and not have to worry about offending a women?

Is that so wrong?

The owner was quoted in the article saying “I didn’t really consider it so much a discrimination thing as – it’s a barbershop… for guys.”  He does plan on paying the fine because unlike one ideologue he respects the law.

He then when on to say “you know, I’m not opposed to doing women’s hair, just not in this shop. I don’t even have [the equipment] to do women’s hair. I want to open a shop to cater to them and no men will be allowed there. They’ll have all the champagne and mimosas they want, and that’ll be on the house.”

Now there is a smart businessman, see an opportunity and seize it.

Should the owner asked her what type of haircut she wanted and if he could accommodate her cut her hair?
