There may be some different looking Michigan State Police cars in the state for the next year.

The State Police announced that they will be rolling out 50 special edition cruisers with black and gold on them, matching the paint on the 1937 Ford Model 74 patrol cars. The 1937 model is the oldest vehicle in the State Police’s historical fleet. The paint colors were there until 1954, when it turned to the bright blue the State Police uses today.

The state’s 30 posts will receive at least one on the special edition cruisers. The new cruisers are to signify the 100th anniversary of the Michigan State Police this year.

The new fleet rolls out on January 11th.
