In their latest press release, Battle Creek police investigators now believe the two abduction incidents in the Riverside Elementary and Minges Road area are not related.

The Riverside walking path incident, involving a woman walking a trail at Riverside Elementary, is now being viewed as a possible assault and not an attempted abduction.

Authorities are still searching for the person driving the car in a picture they released Thursday. They are also working with Michigan State Police on a composite sketch of the suspect and vehicle databases for the State of Michigan.

Police have released a photo of a vehicle of interest. The vehicle was seen driving east on E. Minges Rd (toward Riverside Dr), then turned left (north) on Minges Forest Ln.  It was only on Minges Forest Ln for about 30 seconds, then came back to E. Minges Rd and turned left (east) and headed back toward Riverside Dr.  Anyone in the previously mentioned area is asked to check their surveillance cameras for footage shot on July 17 between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. If anyone has footage of this vehicle call Det. Strunk at 269-966-3365 or D/Sgt. Elliott at 269-966-3349.
