Missing Michigan Teen from 1979 Found in Georgia
Thanks to a tip from a retired sheriff’s deputy in Bibb County, Georgia, authorities exhumed a body from a pauper’s grave in Macon, Georgia, in April after connections were made in the investigation of 15-year-old Andrew Greer of Clayton.
DNA samples of the former “John Doe” and Greer were confirmed with assistance from the Center of Human Identification at the University of North Texas. Investigators believe that Greer ran away from home after leaving Addison High School in February of 1979 and was killed two days later after being struck by a semi along I-75 near Macon, Georgia, while hitchhiking.
Arrangements are being made to bring Greer back to Michigan.
