Michigan State University is reaching out to help Latino fruit growers in the state. The Associated Press reports that with a $600,000 grant, the University’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources will help Latino farmers make the transition from working on industrial farms to cultivating their own land. The grant will help farmers clear cultural, regulatory and educational hurdles. Another part of the project is aimed at helping Latino farmer's children, laborers and those from non-farming backgrounds.
