Myths Shattered About Hiring Vets

This week's Hire A Veteran Regional Career Fair set for this Thursday at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo is described as an eight county collaboration exclusively for military veterans, Reservists, National Guard and their spouses who are seeking new employment.

In advance of that event, we spoke with Richard Fletcher, a specialist who helps prepare veterans for events like this one. Not only did he discuss the ways in which a vet can prepare for the event, but he also shattered some myths employers have about hiring a vet:

• Vets only know how to follow orders
• Vets are uneducated
• Vets only want jobs, not careers
