Homeowners in the City of Battle Creek will now be able to obtain free materials for their home projects this year.

The City says Thursday afternoon that their Code Compliance Division has partnered up with ePaint, a business which collects and re-mixes unused paint to create recycled paint for use both indoors and outdoors. Their products can be found at businesses throughout Battle Creek, primarily the Habitat For Humanity ReStore at 595 North Ave.

Under this new program, property owners in Battle Creek can receive a starter kit including indoor or outdoor paint from ePaint, along with pans and brushes; in order to qualify, applicants must demonstrate to the code compliance office the need for paint, and complete the project within a certain time limit.

Around $10,000 has been budgeted by the city for this program; to apply, and for more info, go to battlecreekmi.gov/code.
