School starts this weekend for two dozen new recruits at the Department of Natural Resources. Class will be in session for the new class at the conservation officer training academy. Beginning Sunday, recruits will begin 14 weeks of basic police training and eight weeks of more specialized training. Following graduation, they will then complete 18 weeks of field training. There are currently 213 Michigan conservation officers at the Michigan DNR.
