Neighborhoods Inc. of Battle Creek has now launched a trio of programs designed to bring assistance to low-income homeowners and homeowners-to-be.

The first program, the Homeownership Opportunities Program, offers up to $4,000 to first time home buyers to help towards a down payment or closing costs. Two other programs would help current homeowners fix up their properties; one would offer up to $7,500 in home repair funding, while another would assist seniors and those with permanent disabilities get up to $15,000 for accessibility modifications and rehabilitation.

Up to $1 million in grants are being offered, through a partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis. These funds are being offered to those who have an income at or below 80 percent of HUD Area Median Income.

NIBC says that these funds are on a first come, first serve basis. CEO of NIBC Nancy Walker says in a release Tuesday;

It’s not every day that homeowners or perspective homeowners have access to grant opportunities to help them purchase, rehabilitate or make accessibility improvements to the home they currently own. Don’t delay in applying.

If you have any questions about applying, or about the grants in general, you can contact Neighborhoods Inc. of Battle Creek at (269) 968-1113.
