The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a winter weather advisory for several west Michigan counties, including Calhoun, Kalamazoo, Jackson and Van Buren Counties from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. It's based on a forecast for a wintry mix that is expected to make roads and surfaces icy.

The advisory, issued just after 4 a.m. Wednesday, warns of a coating of ice expected to develop, which could measure up to a tenth of an inch. The precipitation is expected to change to all snow Thursday for a time, though the high temperature is forecast to be 37 degrees by Thursday afternoon. The weather service does not expect significant snow accumulation.
