West Michigan may have dodged the big snow bullet, which has hit the UP, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

But, once the lake effect winds kick up today and into early Thursday, Battle Creek won't escape an early, measurable snowfall.

The National Weather Service (NWS) forecast suggests as much as 5 inches of snow could be on the ground by the Friday morning commute. The forecast suggests, though, the pace of the snowfall will be slower than at points closer to the lakeshore.

For example, the NWS has posted a Winter Weather Advisory for Kalamazoo County and those to the west, where snowfall totals will be somewhere between 5 and 9 inches by Friday morning. Those totals could be more at points further west.

Are you looking forward to snow…or next spring?!
