Woman Dies In Calhoun County Crash Sunday Night

A Jackson County woman was killed in a crash in Calhoun County Sunday night.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that around 9:36pm Sunday, a vehicle was heading west on R Dr. North in Clarence Township near Duck Lake when it left the road and crashed into a power pole. By the time authorities arrived, the driver, a 37-year-old woman from Springport, was pronounced dead. Deputies investigating the crash say that they believe that speed and alcohol use, as well as the lack of seatbelt use, contributed to the crash.

The CCSO was helped by the Springport Clarence Fire Department, Eaton Area EMS, Jackson Community Ambulance, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, and the WMU Medical Examiner's Office.

The victim’s name is being held until her family can be notified of her death.
