Weather officials say a couple of tornadoes touched down in Michigan's Thumb region as high winds knocked out power to thousands of homes and businesses across the state. MLive DOT com reports from a National Weather Service damage survey that the first tornado hit about 6:46 a.m. Friday near Bad Axe and traveled less than a mile. The second tornado touched down about 7:13 a.m. near Sanilac County's Applegate and traveled more than three miles.
