Stark and derelict but hauntingly beautiful could be a way to describe the photos of abandoned buildings in Detroit captured by this photographer.

Detroit, with its many hulls of houses and factories surviving as remnants of a glorious past, make the city among the best in America for urban exploration. A photographer who goes by the nom de 'net sharghzadeh shared several photos of Abandoned Detroit recently on flickr and reddit's UrbEx subreddits.

The first image in the gallery below shows what was once an alley now overgrown and reclaimed by the wild. Other images show, from inside and out, some of the now abandoned homes in the city.
