10 Years Ago: PJ Fleck’s 2006 NFL Head Shot
P.J. Fleck has come onto the national sports scene as he guided Western Michigan University to an undefeated season and an appearance in the Cotton Bowl. Fewer will remember him from his time with the San Fransisco 49ers. Here's a look back at Fleck's 2006 NFL 2006 headshot.
Fleck impressed his pro coaches. After signing in 2004 as an un-drafted free agent, Fleck impressed then-49ers coach Dennis Erickson in rookie camp, with Erickson calling Fleck a 'frickin' warrior,' and earned a spot on the San Francisco practice squad. He spent 2005 on injured reserve and was released in 2006. Head Coach Mike Nolan, who had taken over from Erickson at that point, had a premonition of Fleck's future coaching success, offering him a spot on the staff
as assistant wide receivers coach stating "If that's something he wants to do, I think he'd be very good at it."
Very good at it, indeed. Elite, some might say.
