A report issued by the Associated Press claims that the National Transportation Safety Board has placed part of the blame on the deaths five bicyclists, in Kalamazoo County last year, on area police agencies.

On June 7th, 2016, Charles Pickett Jr. drove his pick-up truck through a group of nine cyclists on a rural road in Cooper Township, killing five. Forensic test showed that he was under the influence of a number of drugs.

The NTSB adopted a report on April 11th, 2017, saying 22 minutes passed between the first 911 call about an erratic driver and the crash. The board says Charles Pickett Jr. might have been stopped if dispatchers for three police agencies had shared more information.
