The Battle Creek Police Department bomb squad will be conducting training exercises the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 21 at three properties owned by the Calhoun County Land Bank. The three houses, 40 Graves Ave., 217 Graves Ave. and 175 Roseneath Ave, are slated for demolition in the spring of 2018. The training will consist of forced entry and breaching exercises.

These three properties might not look like they're ready for the wrecking ball, but Calhoun County Landbank Authority Executive Director Krista Trout-Edwards says the rehabilitation costs for the selected properties significantly exceed their value.  She says one is full of mold, another has a failed roof that has led to significant interior damage, and that none of the three have operational utilities.
