Three people had to be taken to various hospitals Sunday night after a head-on crash in Branch County.

The Michigan State Police Marshall Post says that on US-12 near Lott Rd. near Coldwater around 8:30pm Sunday, a vehicle crossed the center line, and collided with an oncoming car. The driver of the first car, 21-year-old Megan Bretschneider, had to be airlifted to Bronson Kalamazoo for treatment, while a passenger in the second car, 35-year-old Jamie Smith, had to be airlifted for treatment to a hospital in Fort Wayne.

The driver of the second car, 38-year-old Christopher Smith, was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. Their current conditions are unknown.

Right now, this crash remains under investigation, with the MSP saying alcohol is believed to have been involved.
