It will be a cold and dark Christmas for many in West Michigan after an ice storm caused hundreds of thousands of people to lose power.  The outages include over ten thousand homes in Calhoun County, almost eighteen thousand in Barry County, almost five thousand in Kalamazoo County and over fourteen thousand in Eaton County.  Consumers Energy Spokesman Roger Morgenstern says it could take until Saturday before power is fully restored.  A thousand additional crews are being brought in from other states to assist in the repair work.  The American Red Cross has opened warming shelters for those who need help; in Battle Creek those in need can go to the Red Cross Office at 14600 Beadle Lake Road, in Barry County the shelters have been opened at Barry Township Hall and at the Middleville United Methodist Church.
