Cash continues to pile up for the Powerball jackpot, which now stands at $301 million for tonight’s (Wednesday September 30th)  drawing. That’s a cash value of a meager $191.4 million.  The Powerball folks say the $301 million jackpot is the second-largest Powerball jackpot this year. In February, three players from North Carolina, Puerto Rico and Texas split a $564.1 million jackpot. Lottery retailers throughout the state are selling the $2 Powerball tickets for the drawing until 9:45 p.m. tonight (Wednesday).

After Saturday, Powerball is being revamped to raise your chance of winning any prize (from one in 32 to one in 25) while sharply reducing your shot at winning the jackpot from one in 175 million to one in 292 million.  (The chance of winning a Mega Millions jackpot is one in 259 million.)
