The Calhoun County Clerk's Office has now received Recall Petition Language from Bedford Charter Township registered elector Kraig Dingman desiring to recall Bedford Charter Township Supervisor Adam Heikkila.

The County Election Commission will review the language of the recall petitions before they can be circulated, as Michigan election law requires.  The Calhoun County Election Commission comprised of the County Clerk, County Treasurer, and the Chief Probate Judge, will convene at 3:00 pm on Monday, April 9th in the Calhoun County Building located at 315 West Green Street in Marshall.

The Calhoun County Clerk-Elections Office states that "The purpose of the hearing is to determine whether each reason for the recall stated in the petition is factual and of sufficient clarity to enable the officer whose recall is sought and the electors to identify the course of conduct that is the basis for the recall. The hearing is NOT for the purpose of debating the merit of the allegations. The Commission does not have the authority to rule on the reasons for recall as only the clarity and factual nature of the recall language is subject to the Commission’s review."

Information on Recall law and procedures can be found on the Calhoun County Clerk webpage in the Elections section.
