Maybe it's because gas prices are at the lowest state average since March, or maybe people just need to get away for a few days, whatever the reason, Triple A is predicting that approximately 1.7 million Michigan residents will be traveling 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving. Triple A says that this year's travel numbers for Michigan represent the most travelers in the state since 2007 and a nearly 5 percent increase over the travel numbers from last year.

Triple A says that nationally, approximately 54.3 million people are expected to travel this Thanksgiving and Triple A officials say that auto travel is expected to increase by about five percent. The 2018 Thanksgiving holiday period is defined as Wednesday, November 21st to Sunday, November 25th.
